Who We Are
Penn Valley Pump:
The Ultimate in Positive Displacement Pumps
Since 1980, Penn Valley Pump Company, Inc., headquartered in Warrington, PA, has been developing, improving and manufacturing our Double Disc Pump™ line of positive displacement pumps for use in the municipal, industrial, chemical and food industries. Through continuous research and development, the company has created a wide range of solids handling pumps that provide unmatched durability, reliability and performance.
Penn Valley Pump Company was founded in 1980 by George Burrage, formerly with Fluid Transfer LTD in Britain. Penn Valley Pump Company was initially the master distributor for the Double Disc Pump in the United States.
The original pump invention is credited to Cecil Hughes from Cotterell England in 1969. Cecil was a mechanical design engineer with Fluid Transfer LTD. The intent of the design was a longer lasting reciprocating pump that would work without internal ball check valves. The side-by-side disc design without internal valves was introduced in 1972 and became a production unit in 1975. In 1979 the flexible “trunnion” sealing design was developed by George Burrage and incorporated into the pump. Penn Valley Pump began manufacturing the Double Disc Pump in the United States in 1984 and has never looked back.
The Ultimate in Positive Displacement Pumps for the Municipal, Industrial, Chemical and Food Processing Industries
With thousands of units installed and operating in the United States alone, The Penn Valley Pump Double Disc Pump™ is considered to be a premier product for feeding and transferring tough-to-handle sludges and slurries. PVP has achieved this distinction not only through its extensive experience and expertise in both the hydraulic and the mechanical aspects of pumping installations, but also through its knowledge and understanding of where to properly install its equipment.
Our application engineers dig deep into your specific application by asking hydraulic and material specific questions to ensure the proper pump is chosen. The purchasing of a Double Disc Pump™ is a long-term commitment and deserves a long-term application approach to ensure the pump meets your application needs. There is a saying around that goes “What you don’t know, you don’t know”, but with over 70 years of combined application experience we know our product and there is a good bet we have seen your application before. You can have confidence that we will choose the correct size pump and materials of construction that will reduce your long-term operating and maintenance expenses.
