Maintain in Place
Maintain In Place
With an extremely low wear rate due to the low friction design, the Double Disc Pump™ will last thousands of hours between rebuilds. And when maintenance is required, our patented Maintain In Place hinged housing design allows for quick and straight forward disassembly and reassembly. Unlike other pumps on the market that are complex and may require you to send them out for repair, the simple design of our double disc pump reduces complexity and allows for the pump to be rebuilt without disturbing the piping. With only five elastomeric components and a gasket set, PVP’s double disc pumps can quickly be placed back into service.
Advantageous Design for Easy Maintenance
When parts replacement is required, our patented Maintain In Place housing design allows the inexpensive elastomeric parts to be replaced without dismantling the piping or removing the pump from the frame. The pump consists of three housings that are horizontally split for access. Each housing contains an integral hinge and the housings are pinned to each other with a quick-release ball detent pin. The integral hinged housing design allows for lowering of the housing for easy access and removal, leading to decreased labor costs and minimal downtime.
When maintenance is required on a double disc pump, the housings get removed in stages, with each housing removal allowing access to another component for replacement.
- The process is started by removing the bolts from the suction housing starting from the discharge end. Then the bolts are removed from the swan neck allowing the housing to swing down via the hinge to the intermediate housing. Once this is complete, the suction disc is removed, allowing for easy access and clearance under the frame.
- Next, the intermediate housing is removed for access to the suction trunnion and discharge disc. The intermediate housing also utilizes a hinge attachment to the discharge housing, allowing for easy removal of and access to the discharge disc.
- The drive assembly is then lifted from the discharge housing to allow removal and replacement of the discharge trunnion. This design allows the discharge housing to remain in the frame and suction and discharge piping undisturbed. The discharge housing does not have a wear surface so there is rarely a need to remove this housing from the frame.
The pump is re-assembled in reverse order of the disassembly process. The discs and trunnions are identical to each other so they cannot be put in the wrong spot during re-assembly.
